The Greenville Kennel Club was founded in 1939 and is a member club of the American Kennel Club.
Our purpose is to protect and advance the interests of all breeds of purebred dogs and to encourage sportsmanlike competition at dog shows and obedience trials. In addition to our yearly dog shows, and our matches, the Greenville Kennel Club takes great pride in supporting responsible dog ownership and breeding. Our members take part in animal welfare and education. We support local police K-9 units, search & rescue, and service dog groups.
In Memory of Carroll James
It is with great sadness that the Greenville Kennel Club announces the passing of Former Club President and long time member, Carroll James, on December 26, 2014.
Thomas Carroll James, 90, of Piedmont, husband of Mary Ethel Ray James, died Friday, December 26, 2014 at McCall Hospice House.
Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late John Cromer and Elizabeth Brockman James.
Mr. James was the owner and operator of Thomas C. James and Son, Inc. and a member of Reedy Fork Baptist. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and Army, and was a lifelong member of the Greenville Kennel Club where he was a professional dog handler for 50 years. He was also a member of Farm Bureau and a business dealer for Southern Farms Supply.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a daughter, Carol Diane James Dooley and husband Larry; four grandchildren, John James Jr., Shelby Myers, Nikki Bert and Eric Bert; five great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Judy James Owens; three sisters, Evelyn Bullock, Mary Pepple, Doris McClure; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Tommy James; grandson, Thomas James, Jr.; two brothers, John James and Frank James; and three sisters, Ruth Haas, Louise James and Sarah Frace.
