The Greenville Kennel Club hosts two shows a year in February and July. The July 28, 2007 show had 3,083 dogs entered! There were 2950 dogs entered in conformation and obedience with and additional 133 dogs entered in rally. This was the first time our show broke the 3,000 entry mark!
Visitors to the Greenville Dog Show and potential dog owners have the opportunity to interact with breeders and owners to gather information before purchasing a pet. Most breeders and show people are more than willing to give information about their breed because they want potential owners to be well-informed before making that lifelong commitment.
This is an American Kennel Club sanctioned event. At shows, dogs are judged against their individual breed's standard. Each winner is awarded from one to five points based on the number of entries in their respective breed. These points advance a dog towards its Champion title. Over the course of the day, the entrants are narrowed down to a single dog - Best In Show. In Junior Showmanship competition, children aged 10-18 will exhibit their own dogs as they compete for prizes by displaying their skills in handling dogs. There will also be obedience trials that range from doing basic exercises like sitting to advanced exercises where there are no verbal commands and/or selecting the one scented item from a group.
There is no admission fee and makes a great family outing. There are vendors featuring many dog and pet-related items, such as food and toys, books and magazines, as well as concessions offering a variety of food items for you and your family.
Notice: Only dogs entered in the event are permitted on the show grounds.

From I-85 North (Charlotte, NC and beyond) or I-85 South (Atlanta and beyond) - From I-85, take I-385 North to Greenville. Take the South Pleasantburg Drive exit. Once on South Pleasantburg, turn left at Tower Drive, which will be at the second traffic light and Krispy Kreme Doughnut Shop. Palmetto Exposition Center will appear on your left before you reach Greenville Municipal Airport. Take a left onto Exposition Avenue and you're there!
From Columbia, South Carolina - Take I-26 toward Asheville to I-385 toward Greenville. Continue on I-385 exiting at South Pleasantburg Drive. Once on South Pleasantburg, turn left at Tower Drive, which will be at the second traffic light and Krispy Kreme Doughnut Shop. Palmetto Exposition Center will appear on your left before you reach Greenville Municipal Airport. Take a left onto Exposition Avenue and you're there!
From Asheville, North Carolina - Take Highway 25 to Greenville. Stay on Business 25/Hwy 276 (not 25 By-Pass) until you reach 291 By-Pass. (This is a major intersection with an Eckerds appearing on your left). Take a left onto 291 and continue on 291 crossing Wade Hampton Boulevard, which is a major, four lane highway. After crossing Wade Hampton Boulevard, take a right at the next traffic light. This still is 291. Continue on 291, crossing I-385. After crossing I-385, turn left at the second traffic light onto Tower Drive. Palmetto Exposition Center will appear on your left before you reach Greenville Municipal Airport. Turn left onto Exposition Avenue and you're there!
From Greenwood, South Carolina - Take Highway 25 to Greenville. Immediately after crossing I-85 in Greenville, veer right onto Highway 291. Continue on 291, passing McAlister Square Mall. After driving under a bridge which is about a block past the mall, take a right at the second traffic light onto Tower Drive. Palmetto Exposition Center will appear on your left before you reach Greenville Municipal Airport. Turn left onto Exposition Avenue and you're there!
